Several studies highlight chronic inflammation as a significant factor in the development and progression of these diseases and conditions:
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has been shown to significantly reduce inflammation throughout the body. By delivering higher levels of oxygen into the body, HBOT helps alleviate inflammation and pain. Research indicates that HBOT elevates anti-inflammatory levels and offers cellular support to facilitate healing in targeted areas. Oxygen plays a crucial role in mitigating inflammation, and HBOT fosters an environment where this process is stimulated and improved.
Research has demonstrated that hyperbaric oxygen therapy effectively reduces inflammation through the following mechanisms:
Inflammation is a common denominator in numerous age-related ailments and diseases. Moreover, individuals keen on extending their lifespan and engaging in bio-hacking pursuits are often inclined towards therapies that alleviate inflammation. Explore our resources on Anti-Aging and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to discover how hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be utilized to a greater extent.

In a 2007 study, the effects of HBOT on atherosclerosis were investigated using mice. Two groups of mice underwent either 5 or 10 weeks of HBOT, while two other groups served as untreated controls. Following the introduction of low-density lipoprotein, the treated mice exhibited favorable changes in the immune and inflammatory response, which is a crucial aspect of HBOT’s beneficial effects. The study revealed that HBOT significantly reduced circulating levels of low-density lipoprotein, a known contributor to heart disease, kidney disease, and stroke. Furthermore, HBOT led to a notable decrease in the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in response to an inflammatory stimulus and a significant increase in the production of the anti-inflammatory cytokine Interleukin 10 by spleen cells. These improvements were evident after just 5 weeks of treatment.
