Neurological disorders impact about 1 billion individuals worldwide, spanning all age groups, and contribute to an estimated 6.8 million deaths annually.
A neurological disorder refers to any condition affecting the nervous system. Symptoms can vary widely, including paralysis, muscle weakness, coordination difficulties, seizures, confusion, pain, and altered consciousness levels. While some disorders are rare, others are more common and can range from severe to manageable but still disruptive to daily life. Recognizable examples encompass Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, narcolepsy, stroke, complex regional pain syndrome, migraines, Tourette’s syndrome, and Parkinson’s disease.
Indeed, reviewing the list highlights the significant impact of neurological disorders globally. The staggering statistical numbers underscore the widespread prevalence and the profound effect these disorders have on individuals, families, and societies worldwide.
Indeed, evidence suggests that hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) can aid in the recovery and functionality of neurological disorders. For both neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative conditions, as well as neurological injuries, HBOT delivers heightened levels of oxygen to the brain, aiding in tissue recovery and repair. This process promotes the generation of new brain cells and enhances cognitive functioning.
Clinical research has showcased the following advantages of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for a diverse range of neurological disorders.

Here is a chosen research article that explores the enhancement of brain function through hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
In a 2013 prospective, randomized, crossover, controlled trial, the efficacy of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) in enhancing brain function and quality of life for individuals with mild traumatic brain injury and chronic neurocognitive impairments was investigated. The study involved 56 patients, 1-5 years post-injury, experiencing prolonged post-concussion syndrome. Those in the treatment group underwent evaluation before and after 40 HBOT sessions, while patients in the crossover group were evaluated three times: before HBOT, after a 2-month control period without HBOT, and after 2 months of 40 HBOT sessions. Significant improvements were observed in cognitive function and quality of life in both groups after HBOT, with no significant changes noted during the control period. HBOT demonstrated the ability to significantly enhance brain function, facilitate the formation of new brain connections, and increase brain activity.
